Adwords Tip of The Day: Extreme relevance between keywords, ad text and landing page content is a MUST if you want to turn visitors into conversions.
Relevance has become the gold nugget of information everyone is looking for. Some have embraced it with great success and some have ignored the call and are failing miserably.
Nobody wants to fail, succeeding is much more fun anyway. So … make sure to take the time and review your content pages and check for consistency between your content, your keywords, and your Google ad text. Google will reward you for being more relevant and web visitors will be more likely to stick to your site.
Side Tip:Â focus your content pages on no more than 3-5 keywords. Same for your adwords campaigns … focus campaigns on a mass of keywords and then ultimately peel and stick into tight groups.

Adwords Tip of The Day: Divide your highly specific keywords into very tightly focused ad groups.
Your best performing keywords will perform even better when they are in their own ad group and have highly targeted ad text along side them. Don’t be surprised if you even see your CPC come down over time.
Google is all about relevance. We are being forced to be more relevant and to button up our campaigns if we want success. It is no secret when it comes to keyword performance with Adwords, that highly focused ad groups that have well written copy will prevail. Ad copy, keywords and landing pages all need to be in sync with each other and focused on being the most relevant.

Adwords Tip of The Day: Consistently track conversions on your Keywords, and split-test your text ads with your landing pages.
80-20 Rule … 80% of your traffic is going to come from 20% of your keywords. By tracking which keywords are converting (and split testing till your blue in the face), you will find out which 20% need to be applied against highly targeted landing pages. These pages are designed and developed to convert.
Most keywords will bring floods of traffic. But …. what good is that traffic if the conversion is not made. Tracking the performance of individual keywords will give you the facts on help show you where to put your investment dollars.
Wasting time on keywords that are not performing is like giving your money to Google. They have enough, don’t give them any more.

Adwords Tip of The Day: Select keywords that do not cost more than they are converting.
In this hyper-competitive world we live in, there are many advertisers bidding on the same keywords. For this reason, we see higher minimum bid prices for keywords that in most cases will not convert well for you. Focus on targeted key phrases and broad match keywords that your potential customer may use to search on. (ex1: dog food) is a general key phrase that the most competitive advertisers are using. Why would you want to enter into a bidding war with larger companies that have much more to spend than you do? (ex2: organic dog food products) is more targeted and will cost less as the pool of advertisers will be non existent or significantly lower than ex #1. Its all about knowing your products and/or services and also knowing what your customers will use to find you.

Adwords Tip of The Day: Bid on misspelled keywords and keywords written with no spaces (ex: discountcomputers instead of discount computers). There are tons of targeted traffic for these type of keywords/phrases at only a fraction of the cost-per-click.
Misspellings are part of our everyday life even when they are accidental. A user will perform a search without realizing they spelled their search string wrong. If your ads show up utilizing the correct spelling or something with a close relationship to it, your percentage of “misspelled search leads” will increase. There is no harm in doing this as you will not be punished. The key is to remain relevant, do not try and play tricks on Google and its’ users by trying to use a common misspelling to drive traffic to another non-relevant site.
